Oh great, high spring tide Portsmouth at 1pm which seems nicely timed to catch a surge up the Channel.

Can someone suggest a parking place in Gosport with a bit of elevation? I am heading down to Haslar tomorrow and the marina car park is uncomfortably close to the hightide mark given the circumstances.

But I just heard the BBC Radio 4 update on the storm, sounds like a SW blow is expected early morning in central parts then a stronger second W-NW blast later in the afternoon.

I still don't get the whole forecasting schedule given that this system has just formed up off the Eastern US.

They are predicting it as if there is only one scenario that is definitely going to play out.

Whereas there are probably a couple of alternative scenarios with lower probabilities (e.g. lows don't form as deeply, or go further north, or spin out in the Atlantic), but most people can't cope with a forecast that is delivered as probabilities.

Then again, the met office number crunching machine is quite a big one /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
