having got a new, to me, petrol driven boat I have a quick question
How long should I run the blower for before I start the engine and after I turn it off.
Engine is only a Ford Seawolf but then the boat is sized to match

I would run it for at least 1 minute prior to starting. If you have any concerns about petrol vapour (you can probably smell it) keep the blower runing all the time the engine is running.

Having had a petrol boat with a leak and a petrol fire (bilge water bank side, not on the boat)

First off before you get on the boat check the engine vent
lift the hatch and smell, look for yellow p iss colour bilge water(highly flammable), empty the bilge water with scoop and sponge before turning the electrics on.
If the sponge goes white and greasy you have a problem.

If the sponge is clear then run the blower for 10 mins before starting, while underway and 10 mins after.

No smell of petrol, bilges are pretty dry and clean,one slight damp patch which I will check next time I am there. I have been doing 5mins before, underway and 10mins after with the blower so wasnt so far away.
