Just cleaned the Raritan Compact 1 sea toilet on my Hurley 22 and in all the excitement I put kitchen paper in the toilet.

When I came to flush out I have blocked it.

I have worked out that the block is in between the flapper valve and the "joker valve. That is top say all within the pump assembly at the bottom of the pump house.

I really cant get the pump apart to clean out this valve due to access resrictions, and as this is my first exposure to marine toilets, can anyone suggest a quick fix.

I have tried various combinations of quick/slow pumping and shutting off the seacocks in various sequences etc.

For my next trick I am just going to try a rubber toilet plunger, but this seems to simple, or is it ?

Does anyone have any suggestions, perhaps this is a regualr issue ? I would be really grateful. I have googled it and cant really get anywhere.

Thanks in advance Nick

Com on! Wooden stick with a rubber attachment like a football cut in half.
I am dying to know the out come of this. A pebble dashed interior?

To try and be helpful - there are no "tricks " I can think of to shortcircuit the process. Kitchen roll is made to have good wet strength ie not to degenerate into a mush in the same way that bog roll does. It will also be less good at the principal purpose of bog roll, but if you were desperate.............. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The plunger idea makes me uneasy. It might well work, but putting a sudden burts of pressure into the system could have other nastier results. You might even blow the pipe off the seacock.

The safe and sensible way ios to shut the seacock and take the pump to bits. Get a service kit and replace the seals etc at the same time.

Fill the bowl right up with fresh water. Go home. Pump it out next time you visit the boat. It will probably pump out.
