I ought to post this in the professional seaman's’ forum but I’m posting here to illustrate that the hazards of Biscay aren’t just natural ones.

So, thank you very much to the a’hole of a captain of some radom commercial vessel who dumped a 75 mile long trail of rough sawn timber along our track into La Coruna.

Really, how difficult is it to secure your cargo in moderate summer conditions?? Any one of those 5-10 m long pieces could have taken out our prop. It was sheer luck that we encountered them during daylight hours.

Rant over.
