Had to take my falcon out of the water for starter motor repair again!!! complete engine out job, crying about that, the hull was covered in crustations, leg ,trim tabs, props the lot. at least 1/2 inch of growth all around.Seen lots of boats in Chichester marina with the same but they generally are the ones that are not used.

When I bought this boat I was told it had been antifouled with Copper Bottom and it will last for 10 years. now I have to have her cleaned and re anti fouled. One day this boat will just work and be okay, I would love to see the guy I bought it off again, just for a word over a pint!!

Anybody suffering with these wormy things??

Barnacles ............ respect !

Had mine lifted last week cos the drives looked a bit rough. I had been in the water just three weeks before cleaning them and they didn't seem too bad but when lifted I was amazed, thousands of barnacles, some even living on the inside of the props in the exhaust flow ! how do they do that ?

Can't believe how much they had grown in just three weeks, cut my hands to pieces scraping them off, it seems to me they are having a very virulent year

Saw that trick in PBO one month, sticking red hot chilly powdrer in the anti foul.

If it was copper bottomed it will need abraiding every year to re expose the copper.

Got lots of barnacles on mine which is rare for Guernsey we get a few ut never this many and also on my props too.

Ground chilli peppers probably more useful than sauce. Let us know how you get on, and what results are?

There's a spray you can get from chandlers called Barnacle Kill or something. You spray it on the little fellas & they boil up & dissolve. Unfortunately so does everything around, like the concrete under the boat, your feet, your clothes, the skin on your face, your eyes etc. And as it's a spray, it really does go everywhere. As it seems to be just formic or hydrochloric acid there are probably better ways to apply.
