I'm really missing my MoBo Chat forum because I had my eyes lazaered on Friday and they are still recovering.

I can see the letters on my keyboard, but not what I have written.

I have had some serious correction done (-7 and -6.75) for short sightedness and although my long vision is now becoming good, my short vision still needs some bedding in.

So...thats why I cannot read this stuff and participate, which some of you fiolks may be very glad of!!

My distance vision before the op consisted of nothing more than 2 feet away...and yes, I once lost my specs overboard whilst out at sea, which could have been a disaster had it not been for the person with me getting us home. Yes, it was that bad!!

So I'll be back in a few days

(no point in spell checking what I cannot read)

Dave,

Hope you are back to normal - s/be better than "normal", soonest. You're a brave man as laser treatment is somewhat controversial.

Normally I would make an unkind suggestion that few peeps read their posts anyway...

Get better soon, but don't push it. We all (I do anyway) enjoy your posts, so keep them coming!

If I was in your position I would have done the same. However I have the age old problem of arms that are too short, so can manage ok .

I have been told that noght vision can be affected especially when driving, so would be really interested in your opinion of this when the eyes settle down

Dont really know why I am send ing this cause you cant read it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Aha! a magnifying glass!!

I have read these with my son's magnifying glass. You know the type...he uses it to set fire to my newspaper and fry little bugs in the garden!!.

I was out today with protective specs on walking up Helsby Hill. It was fantastic! Really, for the first time in my life, I could see a hillside and woods, with the sun on them about a mile and a half away. I could count every tree trunk that made up the outside of the wood. It was that clear.

The treatment I had included corrections to perfect night vision (bleedin' expensive) and over a period of two weeks to 3 months this will kick in, as my eyes heal, allowing me to see car headlights as pin-sharp points of light, rather than star bursts. It really does work, it has started already.

I hope it doesn't bore folks too much, but I will report on here, my progress, as time goes on.

I think it must be brilliant to have super vision at sea, and I'm really looking forward to the day I use it on my boat.

Thanks Mike, that's really appreciated. If you read my other reply, you will see how I am navigating my way around here for now.

Lazer treatment has a greater than 10 year history (12 I think) and in the early days, there was no treatment for the likes of me, as my prescription and other optical faults with my eyes, were too off the scale to treat. A new type of lazer from Bausch & Lomb, has changed all that.

I walked through a wooded hillside today and saw, for the first time, what I had been unable to see for 48 years. It was truly fantastic!! What other couples and families thought of the "nutter" with engineers safety specs on, I wouldn't know, and couldn't care less. (I have to keep draughts, dust and grit out of my eyes at all costs)

I will probably always need reading glasses for a paper or emails etc, but hey, who cares.

As I said in my previous reply, I am looking forward to boating with great vision...all that scenery in North Wales!

Bring it on!!!

Re: Aha! a magnifying glass!!

They map the insides of your eye with something called "wave-front". They then show you on screen how a car headlight appears to you (and it does!!). They use this data programmed into the lazer, so that it not only corrects for focus, but corrects the imperfections that cause "starbusrt" lights at night.
