Blakes Thread?

I recently acquired a new blakes head outflow seacock at a usefully reduced price because the two bolts that hold it together were missing.

I looked at it closely today and found that none of my stock of bolts has the right thread, which means it isn't standard metric. Can anyone tell me what thread they are, please?

Supplementary question/rant: Why did they change from 3 fixing bolts to 4? The old one was never going anywhere - I had to get pretty rough to get it out, so changing it just makes it a lot more work to fit

I seem to remember coarse metric had the same pitch but different angles.

You mean the bolts that go through the hull to secure the fixing plate to the seacock body ? My Blake's seacocks have 4 screws there and AFAIK they're 35 years old, they certainly pre-date the built-in grease nipple version.

Just bin up to my cache in the loft. The screws are 3/8 in Whitworth.

I don't think I recall seeing Blakes with three fixing bolts to the hull, so can't help there.

The three bolts type are not Blakes, but either Rowe or SL. New bolts available from Blakes.

The two bolts holding the cone into the body are Whitworth on mine. To save carrying two Imperial spanners just for these I filed the bolt heads and nuts down to metric sizes.

Thanks everyone. That would explain why my metric spanners didn't fit the old one very well!
