Having just come back from Wells for the second time this year and with another trip planned for the end of August, weather permitting of course, we are considering having a night or two in Blakeney as well.

Does anyone have any information on Blakeney harbour as I am really struggling to find much. We have been told to either anchor or pick up a buoy in The Pit as we would likely struggle to get to the staithe. Is there someone we should contact or do we just find a buoy and pick it up?

The place looks lovely but there just isnt much info about!!

I have been there on my cat several times. There is a no anchoring zone marked on the chart, apart from that you can anchor pretty much where you like. I would not trust a bouy without knowing it was good for the weight of my boat. If you anchor in the pit it is quite a long walk/tender ride to town. I usually anchor further up where it is shallower, but my cat only needs three feet of water to float.

Can I recommend Tidal Havens of The Wash and Humber" as an excellent guide to sailing around the North Norfolk coast. Latest edition was updated in 2011 and gives contact numbers for all the harbours as well as the best route to anchorages.

Thanks for that.

Our boat is only tiny, 25ft cruiser weighing in at 2.4 ton dry weight, so we dont really have too many worries on that score.

Also we can get our draft down to next to nothing if we lift the drive. NC will float in an egg cup of water if needs be so thanks for the tip. Trouble being if she does dry out there is no guarantee that she will sit level, hence why we were favouring the buoys.
