Considering coming down to Brightlingsea on Saturday (from the Orwell) but with a reasonably early start needed to return on Sunday I was wondering if recent mornings there have been as foggy as it has been at home in Leicestershire. Don't really want to be stuck in Brightlingsea on Sunday morning with fog, when we really need to leave before the tide falls too far.

Can anyone local advise whether you've had much fog in recent mornings?

Thanks!

No fog in the Orwell either, at least not so far.
Pretty heavy dew on the grass though, so mist not unlikely, fairly warm at night and a good breeze should keep it at bay.

Fog would be a good reason for setting out. Early morning fog being burned off can be magical. On one memorable occasion we were appointed leader of a small group because we had Decca, and bumbled our way out from Brightlingsea into a beautiful scene, with only the tops of the smacks' masts visible. I even photographed a fogbow, though I didn't know what it was called at the time.

We're planning B'sea too this weekend although there doesn't look to be much wind. I remember coming out of the harbour one morning in the mist / fog and looking for Bradwell power station as my reference point and realising I was going to have to do some old fashioned pilotage.
