Blackwater advice

Bit off info off our members please.
IE, PLACES TO VISIT.
Having bought my 27 ft Jeanneu last summer i am looking for places to visit within the Blackwater area.
I have sailed and stayed overnite at ,Brightlingsea,Bradwell, and Pyefleet also Maylandsea.
I am moored at Millbeach by Maldon.
Having moved up from a 22ft Jaguar i feel i wish to spread my wings further.
Sail out and stay overnite thing,or maybe couple days away.
Any feed back and advice well handy...
 
Depending on what you want taking a mooring up Salcott Creek, West Mersea can be very peaceful. If you find a mooring closer to the town the WMYC is always very welcoming and (not eaten there this year) the food is good.

Heybridge Basin is a nice stop but as you have to lock in you are stuck until the next HW.

Further afield there is the Walton Backwaters - Pirate Weekend is early July when many of the forum will be acting out their childhood (or is it childlike) fantasies!
 
if you fancy giving the pirate weekend a whirl i dont giving you a lesson on wallet bashing :D ( the watery bit between gunfleet sands and clacton ) not where yer money is :rolleyes:

just make sure you connect up the gas coz i'm partial to a cuppa or 2 :p:p

OK not the Wallet but well this was certainly foulie weather last Bank Holiday!:D

I was pinching at the time - should really concentrate on sailing not taking pictures!

I know you said you have done Bradwell, but my favourite is to anchor off the beach about a mile below the Power Station when the wind is in the south.

Lovely. You can sit on the sea wall and imagine The River 100 years ago.

Take a walk to St Peters if you need to stretch you legs!!!

Tollesbury! Moor in the marina overnight, dine in the Crusing Club, drink in the Sailing Club and go for a midnight swim in the saltwater pool (it only comes up to yer chest).

Best place on the Blackwater. Or the world, come to think of it.

I've had some good times at Tollesbury. It's a nice place..

Yeah, with its cill and the drying creek, it's certainly not a 'pop in for the afternoon' kind of place but it's a nice overnight spot. Food (including the sunday buffet breakfast) is ace and I spent some very nice tranquil times on 'G' pontoon there.
