The Cocktail... I have an invite to a cocktail party / debacle and it brought to mind a few seshes I had on Black Velvet... now as I remember this was mostly composed of champagne and guinness with a measure of vodka and Tia Maria..... however checking on the innnernet that most recipes only call for the champagne and guinness and only one has the measure of vodka... do any of you Fray Bentos Gourmets know whether the version I seem to remember is / was the genuine article or whether the purests will specify only Guinness and Champagne?

NB despite the potency of the Black Velvet I can remember the barman mixing them!

When I played rugby we had a club called the Beavers to which admission was obtained by drinking 10 pints of black velvet(BV) between the end of the match on a saturday afternoon & close of the bar Sat night/Sun morning. In our case it was cider & Guiness although we allowed stout if we ran out of Guiness. You were allowed to continue if you threw up but with the penalty of some extra pints depending on how many you had drunk at the time of uplifting.

Do you know, the last time this beer was mentioned on the forum, i e-mailed the brewery asking them to let me know if and where I could obtain Dark Island and Dragonshead in or around my neck of the woods.

To date, nothing heard . . .
