(Sorry - sprayhood, not spray good - can't edit thread title it seems!)

I have read a few threads here about products (such as patio cleaner) that will remove green algae, but is there any reliable way to remove the black mould that seem to get into the weave of the fabric. Bleach isn't an option on coloured fabric I guess!

Patio cleaner worked on my hood washed first with just washing up liquid then brushed on Patio cleaner rinsed then allowed to dry and reproofed wirth Fabsil

enlarge 1st photp and you will note the water in globules.

Sandtex Mould Remover got rid of black spot mould from our upholstery without any damage. Dilute about 10:1 (water:SMR) and test on hidden area first to check no fading. Pressure wash the whole hood thoroughly afterwards. I have pressure washed (at 100bar) 2 spray hoods for nearly 20 years and they've not suffered any damage (apart from UV on the stitching). Pressure washing has little effect on black spot but clears green mould and general dirt out very effectively.

Another vote for bleach. I used 30% Domestos/water. Half expected it to fall to dust or turn white, but it's fine (and the mould came out!). Then re-stitched a few seams that had come away, with Wenzel thread. That was hard work. Caught a passing sprayhood vendor on the pontoon, and scrounged a couple of feet of the plastic beading that clips the sprayhood onto the top of the cabin.

I expect to get another five or ten years out of it now.

It's bleach, so will work. The advantage of using something like Boracol is that it has an ongoing preventative effect; used 2 or 3 times a year it will keep algae and mould at bay.

Boracol is king! green or Black on anything then it just gets rid of it in a few hours on a sunny day.

G101 Autosmart is pretty good too, I used it on my car with BioBrisk

I have no idea why this works but,--- mix a whole lot of NON iodised salt with water, brush or spray it on, leave to dry and brush it off. Removes the mold and kills the spores. As it works in Queensland I assume it will work anywhere
