My ferro cement hull is painted with black bitumous paint. I would like to paint the new wooden bulwarks with the same. Is this a bad idea?
thanks in advance

Bituminous paint is a good protective for wood, however you need to see this as a'one off'. If , at a later date, you change your mind and want to use another paint the bitumen needs removing, you cannot simply paint over it and removal is done with difficulty. Traces are always left behind , the use of 'bitumen isolating primers' is never totally effective and there will be 'crocodiling' or creep and bleeding through.
Good luck...
