Went along to an Al Gore talk on Global Warming this week. He is a very interesting speaker. Some some alarming pictures shown of rapidly retreating ice caps and glaciers in just 5-7years. Amonst the facts mentioned was that the US Navy can now break through the Artic Ice Cap with subs just about anywhere now due to the thinning ice whereas 10 years ago nearly everywhere was far too thick.
Also that the last tropical storm in the Atlantic was on the 31st December, not only were all the normal letters used but half the greek letters were used last year as well.- good news for anybody doing the ARC ?!!! the sat images of the track of the hurricane that went across the doldrums into the South Atlantic was also shown. Read in the paper today BLiar is back tracking on this issue to keep Bush happy - words fail me.

On a different aspect had a work away day in Amsterdam today. Coming back over the Dutch waters it was just like wacky races, ships dodging each other on all points of the compass- no wonder it gets a bit confusing when you are looking at these from the surface off Hook of Holland -
later could see all the mud banks and the ammo ship off Sheerness as well as the hundreds of new turbines off the coast. A bit sad to see the old Isle of Grain refinery site layout still visable although its been demolished for years - I joined and paid off many a ship there.
