Well today I should have stayed in bed.

Got to my boat to find my new purpose built swimming pool appears to be working in my cabin. 'Sarah' has a leak and it appears some form of fracture in the floor around one of the keels.

Whilst digging around in the cabin, dinghy (admittedly tied on in a hurry due to the weather) came adrift and was on its way to Bradwell, so sinking-Sarah became lifeboat and had to rescue the Avon escapee..

Get back to shore to sort out the next move, only to be advised that a yacht from Marconi, still with buoy attached, has just drifted through our boats and collided/ got stuck to a yacht.

Off back out again to inspect and then with guys from the club and an antiquated work boat, we tried to rescue the boat with not entire success.

Time to take up scrabble!

Re the fracture.
are you aware of a grounding in the past.
talk to your insurers it worked for another forumite with a latent defect

She is very old. But history says she ran aground at Mersea many moons ago and at the bottom of a spring tide she may ground where she is moored now.

Hi Lee. Marconi boat is called 'Time Out' We are pretty sure it's a Marconi boat since it's got a big yellow mooring buoy (chain still attached but obviously, that attached to nothing) and it came down the river from there.

No probs. Well it's not badly damaged. A few scuffs etc and a broken guardrail turnscrew was the last I saw. Was roped up so it wouldn't drift off anywhere and Marconi were being contacted to come collect it.

Our work boat was 'out-gunned' with the wind / tide yesterday.

That would be me! GJW came up trumps when my previous boat developed a canting keel but just one way and with no controls. Turned out the survey I had when I bought the boat did not pick up the defect in her build. Insurers nearly 6 years on paid 5/7th of value and I sold the boat with the full knowledge of the problem explained to the new owner for the 2/7ths so I was no worse off other than heartache!

If I can offer any help please PM me although I dont get on here other than at weekends sometimes!

Boat came out yesterday and it's a bit of a mystery at the mo. The keels seem fine, other than the odd fairly insignificant chip, but nothing awful as expected. It seems the expected source of the water is a bit of a red herring..

Time to go hunting it seems.
