Hi all, We are a group of 14 yachts (so far), planning a Biscay crossing in may 2011. Boats range from 29 to 50 foot. We aim to meet in Falmouth for a departure Sat 21st. (weather allowing). Some will cross to the Spanish Rias, others are passing Portugal without stopping. If you are planning a similar passage and would like to be included in our plans, please send me a mail to fairwinds@aldea.fsnet.co.uk there is no cost, just shared info, routing, weather info, plus a chance to meet up in Falmouth for a rally type evening! UPDATE...weve also secured a group discount at our departure marina which could be especially beneficial if there is a weather induced delay. LATEST UPDATE Small news item in yachting monthly march magazine helps our numbers to 13 and counting..

Thanks, Andy.

I had a chat with yachting monthlys famous Dick Durham today who has suggested he might get something in next months magazine. He sounded very supportiveand asked me to mail him with our plans. look out for a small editorial in the Dec 16th issue. it would be great help in spreading the word.

Later Biscay crossing

I will be crossing a bit later, at the end of the summer next year. We will set off from the Solent around the 3rd or 4th week of September on route to the Canaries for the ARC. Surely there must be others going around that time too?

Im sure there will be folk crossing throughout the summer. Im just tying to pull together all those that want to make an early (ish) crossing. Im guessing there must be hundreds of yachts that do this trip each season? Sep is as good a time as any so long as the winds are right. There was a lovely 14 day spell of Northerlies at the end of october that would have been perfect this year.

UPDATE.

Our meeing [oint will be Port Pendennis marina in Falmouth who have kindly agreed to host our gathering and who have offered a discount on their normal berthing fees.

I will be crossing the opposite way possibly in May. Anyone up to join to form a flotilla?
