Bird scarer

Recently fitted several wind driven rotating horizontal arms with noise making flipping ends after suffering birds sheltering on my yacht and shitting on it. Two months in so far they have proved and effective deterrent. They sweep the deck and clack as they pass through 360 degrees. If you can zoom in on the photo below they can be seen. 00B11AF2-AFC1-4106-A542-013D00C387A9.jpeg

I tried the ultrasonic scarers without any success.
Two of them - even tried setting them to Bear Scarer mode (we don't get many bears in our part of Spain!!)
A friend sent me a photo of one of the birds with his head listening to the scarer speaker!!
So, ultrasonic ones don't work.

I had the same problem last year, gulls had taken to sitting on my Quantum radar housing and projectile crapping onto my canopy. As I'd bought a new canopy which was fitted towards the end of the season I bought Stopgull rotating bird preventers and stuck them on at the beginning of this season, and so far they've done the trick.

I agree, total waste of money. Didn't scare the gulls, but annoyed the neighbours as 43% of humans can hear the ultrasonics!!

Birds don't like hawks. I nailed two small planks in the shape of a cross with one arm longer (hawks have long tails) and hung it from the mast head and clear of the mast. It worked!

I have the Scare Gull, another rotating type, very good. My mate has the Gullsweep also - it works well.
The one that makes me smile is the huge plastic owls that people put on their boats to deter gulls. In my experience it just creates a new perch from which to poop.

We have signed on Wol as a crew member in April

So far he appears to have kept the gulls away - but he might not be so happy on a mobo ?

Plus one for Scaregull, they do need a breeze and regular cleaning/oiling though. Buy on eBay, cheaper than their website and free postage.
