bird droppings

Serious amount of large bird droppings on boat is annoying me and very difficult to clean. is there any device or method out there that works to stop birds roosting and ****in on baots moored ??

Farmers tend to hang old CD's on fishing line so they twirl in the wind and scare the birds away

Old cd's have worked for me also I have put one those windsock type fish that blows and twists in the wind on the radio aerial.Only had them up for a few weeks so far so good.

On the subject of cleaning it off - this works on my car so should work on a boat.

Boil the kettle. Put a cloth over the poo. Pour on boiling water. Leave for a bit. Comes off really easily once it has been softened up by the heat.

Same here so adopted the system used by others in Weymouth harbour namely bunting. I used small Union Jacks and some skull and crossbone flags. Worked a treat and cost £10.
I thought I would try netting but very difficult to handle and fix so gave it up as too much hassle..
I found that it just takes time and water to get rid of the droppings. Some was on the car and it took the gloss off the paint so better to not leave it.

You can buy a kite/kestrel errr... kite that flies from a 6m fibregalss pole that claims to scare the offenders away.
