birchwood BSC

HELLO ALL.
I have been offered a birchwood 22. The boat is in good condition but there is no BSC, this expired last year, The vendor ( an older gentleman) has retired from boating. my question is is it likley that the craft will require any alterations to pass the BSC and is it the same test the boat would have had previousely, or has there been any alteration to the test. any advice would be welcome.

Normally, once a boat has had a BSC, renewal should not be difficult. You should only need to consider any modifications made since its last examination and time limited items such as gas hoses and fire extinguishers.

Of course, examiners differ in their approach so it might be sensible to use the examiner that issued the last certificate for your next test.

Also empty all extraneous items out of the boat before the inspection. I have heard tales along the lines of a cupboard being termed an unventilated gas locker because an owner had a small, portable camping gaz stove stowed in it.

No need to tempt fate.
