Birchwood 25 Engine

My birchwood 25 was built in 1976.It has a watermota sea tiger engine.It is based on a ford 1600cc cross flow engiine.Can anyone tell me exactly which car it would have been fitted to.thanks

It would have been a Ford Cortina Mk2 1968-1971, Ford Capri Mk1 '67-71 and Ford Transit '68 thru to I think about '78.

It was sold as an industrial engine by Ford for ages and I think became discontinued in the early 90's.
It is known in Ford parlence as the "Kent" engine, be careful the early Fiesta and Escort FWD had a transverse version which is the Valencia and some bits are very different. The bit that does transfer is the electronic distributor which is well worth having, and are peanuts from scrappies.

Day to day spares should be motor factor fodder, anything specialist I go to someone like Burtons in Ilford or Vulcan Engineering in Uxbridge.

do you need spares, as i have a pair of them sat in my boat (link at bottom of page), i'm taking them out next year. but have you considered replacing it with a single diesel?
