Having done much research I am now able to buy used oil in large quantities (1000 litre) @ 20-35p per litre + vat. Production costs work out @ 15p per litre including lecky & chemicals. So excluding plant & machinery , which you could make yourself, cost could be as low as 35p per litre.
Mix this with real diesel at 50% to be safe @ say £1.20 per litre & you have fuel for less than 80p (if you can be bothered with all that & carrying it to the boat) Not sure I can. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Been running commercial bio for 12 months now I pay about 80pL but dont have to bother making it, its delivered to me in 20L cans 200L at a time.
Bit slow starting this morning, -3degC, but still made it first hit allthough for a few seconds it was only on 3 cylinders.
Now running 50/50 as I do when it gets below freezing and I remember to fill up at Sainsburys.

Wont go back to dino diesel apart from using it to prevent waxing in the car unless I am forced to.

If red goes up much more, my last lot was 60pL, I will switch the boat to Bio.

Excellent, its something that some club members are wondering about, cooperative owning the plant and 2000l tax free aloowance per co-owner if it works that way, the idea being that anyone who does not need all 2000l lets those that do need/use same have it for a beer or whatever.

Sorry to disappoint, but I already tried HMCE with that idea. The rules are 2500 litres of duty free production per premises not per individual.

Interesting. When I was researching the feature I came across an outfit who use one processor for a whole bunch of peeps. Correct records were kept as to who has made and used what and they all kept under 2500 ltrs each per year.

I was told this proceedure had been agreed with HMC&E. I wonder if they have changed stance recently.
