From faffing about at speed, my front bimini fram has pulled the fixings from the screen surround out. It's an aluminium screen surround I presume.

Would a larger self-tapper type screw suffice to fix this again do you think of is there a better way of fixing the mounting plate to the surround?

Many thanks and apologies for the mundane/stupid post.

They're often just held with self tappers, so it seems reasonable. Can you get access to the back, if so then bolts, with washers or a back plate will always be better, but if you can't, then what other option do you have?

I can't access the back of the nut/screw so I guess self tapper it is.

I don't think there is any other option - I just didn't want to miss some trick that a forumite had discovered!

I am glad you asked that questions as I was going to post similar. Two of the studs on the outside of our windscreen have corroded and snapped off - nothing to hold the canopy onto. (Electolysis between the aluminium windscreen and S/S studs I think) If they are self tappers than I wil have a quick go at drilling and extracting them, if that doesn't work because of corrosion then drilling and screwing in new self tapping studs
