Arrived in Cherbourg Friday evening as arranged.

Where were all the good peeps I'd been looking forward to meeting up with?

Had a message from Robin so he's off the hook, and heard about a boat being pulled off the mud Chichester early Friday by a RIB so that explains another, but what about the rest?

Consoled myself by trying to set up my wireless Sat evening for the SB Love-in. Nothing heard.

And don't Moody owners like to chat a lot on the VHF?

Hi Tom

I did PM you to say we couldn't make it (family illness) earlier last week, and the rest of our rally postponed by 24 hours due to the weather forecast (strong winds saturday) so they didn't leave until Sunday morning. Judging by the weather I would think they motored most of the way!

We heard you was off to nick a submarine so went elsewhere instead. Had a land lubbers weekend on IoW - great fun. Went gliding x3 - great views of Solent. Will post one when I get a chance. Boat back in next week - hooray.

Re: land lubber weekend

Was there Fri and Sat nights but went along to New Inn at Shalfleet - end of Newton Creek for a bite there. Sorry to miss you. Keep well

You didn't hear me chatting on the VHF yesterday - too busy breaking speed records!!

9 hours 30 minutes from abeam Barfleur to abeam Needles - not too bad in a manky old Moody - and with a sleeping crew at that!!

Jimi was just heading out as we got into the marina - first time I have seen any body sailing a boat wearing a fedora !!

About 60 miles and an average of 6.3 knots. Not bad for a Moody.

We did 77 miles at an average of 7.1 knots yesterday, so would have beaten you with almost an hour to spare - eat your heart out!

The Moody hogging the VHF was called H****dier
