new CE regulatins obviousely banned automatic bilge pumps for environmental reasons(oil spill). so my new nimbus 320C was not equipped with them.
how would ensurances react in case of sinking, if the owner did not undertake all efforts to keep the vessel afloat?

All you need to do, is fit a bilge pump, with an oil/water seperator, with an auto switch, solves the problem. You only need that in the engine compartment, which should be seperate from the rest of the boat.

Thats certainly the rules for BSS boats on the rivers, engine bilges to be seperate from the rest of the bilge, either by stiffners or by a seperate undertray under the engine(s).
AFAIK BSS will not accept filters etc that filter oil out and I believe that RCD scheme is the same.
It's certainly a condition of my insurance that I have an auto bilge pump that's on at all times.

I have engine drip trays, deep ones!! With a pampers in each. But no bilge filters and all automatic switches. BUT beware, the auto switches have a habit of failing, I've had three go belly up in the last year, they may have been three years old. One is for the shower drain tank, so gets a lot of use, especially with wimmin on board!!
