The story has finally broken. Now you know why we put our P42 up for sale.

Wow! Can't help wondering what the fuel economy is - measured litres per meter of course... In the best Paul Hogan voice "Call that fuel consumption, this is fuel consumption!"![]()

Whatever your taste in boats, its nice to see big ships like this being produced in the UK imo.
...and I believe you'll find Pendennis is now at the heart of the new builds.
I work with several super yacht brokers. Pendennis are first class, no question, great apprentice training scheme, good facilities. Good project managers.
However speaking to brokers Pendennis and DML are up 20% more expensive than Dutch yards for this type of work.........Can somebody explain how this can be considering the fact that Dutch yards are paying higher labour rates than Pendennis.
Love to know why DML pulled out of building at Devonport with RN work decline.
Well done Piers,
They should have had Maritex bearings and rope cutters of course, but the underwater stuff seems left to tradition and materials from the 40's. They source great hooters but the shafts rest in old technology!
So if the new owner is listening, when you want a bearing upgrade let me know.
I suspect that an ex gov/mod dockyard mentality was possibly not well suited to a private customer who expects you to jump through many hoops, can introduce specification changes and has very high expectations of the end result. All my own personal view of course. But I have worked with superyacht owners on new projects as well as Babcock and the MOD.
The sort of people who commission vessels like this expect a very different level of service to an MOD contract. I've tried to work with areas of Babcock that are so slow and so backward and unable to adapt to changes that I've been tearing my hair out on behalf of a babcock customer who pays them to look after their vessels. I've got products sat in my office that were first discussed more than three years ago and still no resolution at a cost to us of many £00's.
With Superyacht new systems and privately funded submarines we can design, test and deliver within a matter of weeks. Fortunately there are some very good rapid prototype manufacturers in the marine business who keep things moving, but it's not Babcock, Bae or the MOD.
They do have some individuals who have the right approach but I get the feelling they may be swimming up hill.
These superyachts are so vulgar and an affront to the rest of us who are trying to reduce our personal consumption and environmental impact.
