Awesome machines: rich man's playthings. Absolutely useless for anything after they become uncompetitive.

The real yachts like Ondine, Greybeard, Stormvogel and Kialoa are probably still racing or doing charter work.

The Sydney to Hobart race starts on Boxing Day. I love it when the winds are strong and it is really rough as it always tests these ultra-fast super maxis and quite often the slower and more robust yachts give the thoroughbreds a run for their money.

Stormvogel is still racing in the Antigua Classics, and although now under private ownership I think she still may be doing the odd charter.
