Big tidal surge in Chi Harbour tonight

A SW 7 - 8 is pushing the predicted 5.2m tide well above normal tonight. Cambermet Tide gauge in the Harbour was reading nearly 5m at 10.50pm, with HW not until 12.20. It has already flooded parts of Emsworth and is coming across the A259 there. The concern is that the local sea defences are only designed for 6m, and such a big tide will find out any weaknesses. If it is the same at the eastern end of the Harbour, there could be some serious overtopping round Fishbourne too. It reached 5.64 last night. Almost record height
