I took on board many comments the forum made. I take the point that speed is not essential particularly in UK waters.

I would like to go bigger to a 40 to 42 foot boat, but this is stretching me too much with the old pennies.

Originally I was looking for a F33 flybridge or similar but have been talked out of buying one. The main opinion I picked up is they are too short and too tall to give a comfortable ride. May be a F33 owner will say otherwise.

The 3 chosen boats remain Sealine, Fairline Phantom and Princess 360.

No doubt in the near future i will be asking for help with the engine options available.

This week Im off to Guernsey if the weather settles down. Any 36' Ginnys out there, how about an invite?

Watch out for raggy "Piccolo"

I highly recommend the Princess 360. We sold our Turbo 36 about 11/2 years ago and checked many boats including Phantoms. The Turbo was our third Fairline so I expected to buy another. We ended up with a 1998 Princess 360. The Turbo was a good boat but the 360 beats it on every front except no aft cabin and only one heads.

Sea keeping is better, she's faster and not effected by loading her up for holidays etc.. Based out of the Solent we have been across to France and as far west as Fowey. Full fuel, water and 2 weeks kit we still pull full revs and clock just over 33 Knots with TAMD 63L's. GREAT BOAT

Hi, L.O.A. is 39ft 7inches. and has 2 x 318 HP (TAMD63L) engines. When we went to the West Country recently it was only one week after anti-fouling, so yes she had a clean bottom. Previous to that it was just over 1 year since she was out and it was still achieving just over 30 knots. By the way, MBY, Feb 2002 did an article on Bernard Olesinski, quote "The Princess 360, for example, happens to be the best sea boat for it's size that this writer knows, but even it is not perfect". It went on to say that it's sensitive to trim with empty fuel tanks and a full water tank. So all in all a pretty good write up, and she really does handle well.

I know its a bit late and a bit pedantry but the old extended keyboard exists and an Alt 0189 produces a lovely ½ for your 1½.

Nice to see Jerbro is loving the V40 and why not, its a fabulous boat.

I'll get my coat.

Hi Andy yes the 360 was top of list when choosing the school boat, though they are sensitive about berth lengths out here I have 12m berth so that may have been just over? Hang on 39.5 feet x .304 = 2.008 metres. and yours is 39ft 7"

I remember the article too, it has an excellent hull.

My F36 has two KAMD43's 230hp each, when I cruised her in March from Menorca to here )550nm) she had a clean bottom cruised at 23-24 top speed 27 kts.
She too is sensitive to trim when my co director Neil whos a big bugger, moves from one side to tother.

Ultimately I would like one if I can get away with the LOA, by the way I believe the beam is less than 4m yes? Wonder what a late 90's one will go for, humm
