Big engine - 25ft boat

Looking forward to your report!
What's the boat? And the outdrive? Bravo X, I suppose.
Depending on the hull, it should be good for 60+ mph, maybe even low 70s, if stepped and with a proper setup (aggressive X-dim, etc.).

8.2

We just shipped out a 25ft to Ireland new M5 deckboat with 8.2 mag HO 435hp on a B3X.

Out in Coleraine is it that one? Shes a beasty shes DTS as well

No, this one is based on south coast of UK. She is having through exhausts fitted as well. So it should be heard coming, or maybe that should be going!

Why? I would think it's a waste of money on a catalised engine, not to mention the increased risk of water reversion.
Last but not least, doesn't that make Mercury warranty void?

sea ray 250 slx by any chance?

should go well with the HO, it's not usually available with the 430 engine.

Not all of the new Mercs are coming thru with cats yet. We just sent a new Monterey M5 with the new 8.2 all singing all dancing lump and standard exhaust system.

For the record though the last lot of Volvo`s we had in we all with Cats and a really neat tidy job they have done. What the insides will look like in 6 months remains to be seen lol.

Love to off heard our 8.2 on sound choice but we dont order due to EU noise regs etc :(

Have a nice BAJA Boss 275 in at the mo 8.1 425hp on straights sounds sweet so that will do for the ear drums at the minute

Weird, I read somewhere that the 502 would have been available only with catalysed exhaust. In some US forums they're even concerned that removing the cats could be difficult, due to all the electronic setup which goes with them... :D

Anyway, I perfectly see what you mean re. the 496, 'cause I have exactly the same setup on my Fever 27.
And with CMI sport tubes on top!

cats

We used to get 5.0 litre carb engines when these engines were not allowed to be sold in the US due to the CARB rules. i guess for California.

Possible that this is the case here. Its the very latest spec 8.2 needing G3 diagnostics not CDS. Also another Searay here a 260 Sundeck same motor no Cats.

On the Volvo £100 worth of anodes on the Cats alone not including the ones on the drive.
The engines sound alot more refined with them. Not that I like refined V8`s! Cant beat the roar of power of a big block with straights.

Need to get this Baja serviced and go burn some hydrocarbons!!!!
