Hi,

I've searched through the archives and had no luck so far... and I wonder if anyone here can help. I'm after a very large pair of sea boots for offshore racing and cruising. I'm a size 15 UK, and plastimo, musto, dubarry and gill have all so far drawn a blank. I have deck shoes, and currently use neoprene booties, but I'd like something a bit more substantial!

Does anyone know of any other manufacturers I should try? I exhausted all the chandelry type shops in Cowes the other weekend, so I'm guessing that anyone who makes such a boot will probably be in US - any ideas?

Many thanks,

Ben

seem to remember PBO having an article a couiple of years ago about other people with a similar problem, and they had found a place in UK that would supply - so suggest you ask for an archive check

Right... It's in "Waiting for the tide" by Sarah Norbury
PBO Mar 2003 p4-5. I'll have to wait till I'm reunited with my credit card tomorrow and get myself a copy of the article: let's hope it is a source of information rather than a request for it!!!

Thanks again,

Ben

Save your money - it's a request for info. They rang round the suppliers and found Dubarry etc only went up to size 14.

I would advise trying a US mail order swindlery. My nephew has size 16 feet and gets lots of footware via the US

Hiya,

Got the article from a friend, and also the follow up - unfortunatly the chap who makes the bespoke boots mentioned is retiring at Christmas and has a full order book till then. Some relief as he also charges £800 for a pair...

Looks like I'll be putting razor cut on the bottom of my wellies then!

thanks for your help,

Ben
