what can one use to repair a bic dinghy as the bottom is starting to wear and showing lines in the plastic?

unless they are deep gouges why do you worry ?

Nothing to worry about, They all go like that however careful you are. Repair is not quite impossible, but very difficult, and involves welding part melted plastic across the patch. the real difficulty is getting the temperature right. Too cool and it doesnt stick, too hot and it melts - suddenly! - leaving you much bigger hole to repair.
