Two examples of why I love sailing in Turkey.

As some will know I had a heart attack there in June last year, that curtailed my visit and meant that it was nearly a year before I went back to sail. Before I left I had given some shirts to the Laundry at Yacht Classic in Fethiye. I had completely forgotten about them, but when I returned there in May they were brought back to me freshly laundered.

I needed new anchor chain this year and because prices for all imported goods are rising fast in Turkey due to the falling Lire I bought it for delivery on my last day there rather than wait till September and possibly have to pay a lot more. I called the marina office and asked to put the boat bows to the quay in the lift dock to change the chain. The marineros had a better idea and put their boat under my bows, took the old rusty chain into it and lifted it onto the dock, then brought my new chain in their dinghy and lifted it all in for me.

I don't know anywhere else where people are just so helpful.
