Just a word of warning.
My neighbor has just had a mortgage application returned due to excessive credit applications on his credit file.
On investigation he had 20 plus registered against him in just 2 weeks, further investigation with revealed he had been using comparison sites to check power and gas as well as 2 car insurances for him and his wife and building and contents insurance for his new house. Each time he did a search a credit check registered against him. Net result trying to get the best deal damaged his credit score.
Neither he nor I knew this so I am guessing others don't either
