Just been reading Imray's "The West Country".
Sad to see a number of minor and major instances of false information.
With regard to the Salcombe/Kingsbridge entry on page 94 it says that the channel up to K'bridge is marked by red buoys R1 - R6!!
I've been using the estuary for 20+years and can assure readers that the channel is marked by RW beacons. The R buoys take you to the drying moorings at Bowcombe Creek. To get to the Kingsbridge channel, from there, entails crossing a large mud bank !!.
Such basic inaccuracies lead, unfortunately, to one doubting other "facts" given for other ports/harbours.
