I've got a sticky injector pump on my engine. It has been stuck fully on with black smoke belching and I cleared that by repeatedly pressing the stop solenoid and it eventually reset. Now it has gone the other way and instead of being stuck fully on its stuck fully off. I have lost faith in the pump so need to take it off and get an exchange. However the workshop manual instructions to remove it describe how you should align the pin on the rack with a slot on the engine block in order to remove it. As the rack is stuck I cant align the pin and so the pump wont come off. I cant slide the pump itself from side to side to align it as the studs from the engine block go up through the pump, all I can do is pull it up vertically. Has anyone got any hints about how to go about this in a non destructive way so I can exchange it.
