I`m now convinced that the Beta 13.5 HP is the one to replace my MD7a (thanks to The Forum) and have scoured the forum on the subject but there is no mention of who actually fits the unit. Surley not everybody is DIY ?

The Beta website lists a number of Beta agents who I am sure will do it for you. Believe 'head office' is your way as well.

Otherwise there will be many non-Beta engineers around who will do it for you - ask around and see who has done this sort of thing reasonably well in your area.

Hi
I assume your boat is at Buckler's Hard. Several of our club members have used TS Marine at Universal Boatyard (or is it marina) on the Hamble to replace an MD7A. There have been no problems with the quality of work or timescales. The cost is as good as if not better than other local Beta agents. Ask if they can give anything off for the old engine, prop etc. Every little helps. The labour cost will be about £1200 so you can figure out if you want to go DIY or GSI.

Do consider doing it yourself . . .

I am a mechanical numpty, but bit the bullet and fitted a new Beta to Fairwinds.

There was one job I delegated to a 'professional' - and that turned out to be a big mistake.
