Can't remember if anyone has mentioned Metvuw here before but this is the best weather site by a country mile (with good track record):

The track record for accuracy of this site far outperforms anyhting else - for NZ weather anyway. Obviously not keeping track of the UK record but it appears to be working on the same principles so give it a try (for when you are in the UK)!
