I've installed OpenCpn and have VistMyHarbour maps. I have access to all boat information through a wireless NMEA connection.

So all I need to be able to do is secure the laptop so I can use it all during passages.

Any tips, please?

Thanks,

Simon

Hi-
I use that plastic section fascia board. It looks properly made, can be cut or sanded and has a lip.

I use a small woodworkers cramp on one corner to hold it in place to the saloon table in my case.

Free too!

I fixed a bit of webbing across the chart table and made it just lose enough to be able to slip the laptop screen under it and then fold the laptop so it can't slip out.

Double sided suction cups-loads on e bay and work really well and also give some degree of shock absorbtion

A Velcro pad works well on the chart table.

Didn't for me. The laptop stayed in place but there was nothing to cushion the blows in heavy weather and the screen shattered when we fell off a wave. And that was a Toughbook that had previously been around the world on a Volvo 70.
