You need the latest Whizzbling Chart Plotter with built in everything, don't bother messing with tatty old paper charts

make sure you have at least five different sorts of cleaning materials on board so that you always have the right jollop at hand

as opposed to

the course sailors (forgive me Michael Green if you are still alive) who know that fairy liquid does 95 per cent of everything

the rest can be handled by acetone once you get back to the boat yard
