We will need to leave the boat temporarily in France to head back to the UK for a week or so.

Don't know the area at all so what are folks recommendations? Currently headed North & East - and flights booked from Dinard to Stanstead.

We should have time to reach Roscoff / Port Bloscon. Perhaps get a bit further along, but look few places safe to leave. St Malo ideal but could be too far in timescale
St Quay Portrieux looks the only other obviou place in between from a quick look at the pilot book
Jersey a possibility but likely too far

Suggestions?

NB Needs to be pontoon not mooring, and preferably not a general raft up when unattended.

Lezardrieux esp if you can get in the new bit rather than pontoons sticking out into the river.

Consider Morlaix. Non-tidal - you lock into the marina from the river.

TGV a short stroll away. Chandlery on the quayside. Bar restaurant next to the marina office. Coreff real ale: nectar.

I don't think there is a perfect solution.

Many of the alternatives either have poor transport or involve a long hike up a river or maybe both. By the time you have got yourselves to Dinard from them you might have got the boat to St Malo anyway, which is just a cab ride from the airport.

If you are sure St Malo is out, then I would either choose Morlaix or Roscoff. Both would be fine, Roscoff has easy bus links with Morlaix and it's SNCF. The only drawback with Morlaix is the trip upriver and potential for drama on a tight schedule, esp if you have a deep draught.

I think most of the other alternatives are within one or two tide striking distance of St Malo by sea.

Forgot, this may help:

Anybody mention Plouer?

Easy taxi ride to Dinard and not too bad a marina. Staff cabaret always good value and the crepe stall is endless fun.
