In Greece, we divide motor boats to two different species.

The boats above 10 meters which the law call them "yachts", and the boats below 10 meters which the law calls the "boats".

A boat with LOA factory documents of let's say 10.01 meters will be charged with yearly fees, and many more econimic negative motives, which makes the average buyer to re-think this size. On the other hand, a boat with LOA factory documents of 9.99 meters will be charged with no fees plus almost zero expenses as far as the HRMS is concerned.

Therefore I was thinking out loud, searching for the perfect offshore seaworthy diesel cruiser below 10 meters, with the maximum possible amenities inside for let's say 4 people.

Can you give me a hint ?

Thanks

Nick

...OK, I might be taking the "offshore seaworthy" category a bit far, but these (as well as of course my Hardy are some firm favourites with me!)

...I will think of some more in a minute!

are you sure you cannot play around the rules
the registrar normally certify with the length not an LOA of the boat, which make a boat of 10.50 go under ten metres on rules, check this
many boats LOA infact includes also pulpits as is the case for the British builds for example, so check this out well

in pocket size super yachts this is also done a lot, for example many models named 85 to 90 by most shipyards can manage to squeeze a registratioon standard hull length of 23.99 metres
this in turn can give the owner the possibility to operate the boat with a Yacht Master licence as well as it being classed as a pleasure yacht instead of a small ship, saving a number of headaches to him each year and making the builder in a more competitive way to build it, especially if charter is not in plan

Of course I can play with the rules ;)

I am just asking to see if you believe there is a 10- meters boat which has almost the same space and almost the same sea capability as a 10+ boat...

Just to give you a hint to continue the discussion.

As we said in another thread, the Princess 32 Riviera handles the sea better than the Princess 366 Riviera, but her interior space cannot be compared between each other. But the P32 is under 10 meters and is labeled as a boat in the Greek law, where as the 366 is labeled as a yacht.

So I guest a Princess 32 Riviera is a boat on the list. Any other ?
