Best location for a depth sounder on Dufour Arpege

I am helping our my friends to upgrade his Dufour Arpege MK2, 1974 and we are struggling to decide on a suitable place for an in hull depth sounder. Could any of the Arpege owners please help out? The maximum deadrise angle the transducer can handle is 22 degrees.

Do you have a copy of the arpege manual? I think it shows the suggested location for a transducer. Mine is in that location, in the part of the cabin sole that's a step up from the main area, just forward of the mast support post.
