Best jam cleat you\'d recommend?

I'm looking for an aluminium jam cleat but need one with a gate or bar to stop the rope being knock out too easily (don't know the right name for the round bar that goes over the top). It has to be a jam cleat rather than a clutch because of where it's been sited. It must be strong enough to cope with some heavey horizontal loads, including mild shock loads in gusts. I've googled but I must be using the wrong terms because I can't find anything!

Help much appreciated.

Were you thinking of cam type- harken or Barton
or clamcleat type, I think plastimo make these now.

Thanks everyone. It wasn't the cam cleat with opening jaws but the simple inline with serated edges, still not sure what that's called! Anyway a couple of those links took me to some solutions. Thanks.

Holt, Holt/Allen, or Clamcleat are the proprietary names ossociated with "solid-state" cleats. No particular favourites- they're all good...

I know what you mean but don't know what they're called either. I have one on the toe-rail for the jib furling-line, so the crossways type won't fit. I'm on my fourth (plastic) cleat and intend to use a clutch next time.

Aaaah - that's it - 'clamcleat', I didn't realize that was a propriety name. This is the sort of thing I was after (aluminum & the cage thingy)

It depends how many times you want to use it - if Clamcleats get Alumium not plastic, it'll last MUCH longer. If you can use one use a clutch - the Lewmar clutches are the best in my view as they are much easier on the rope. On my furling line on my previous boat I initially had a plastic clamcleat but changed it to a Rutgerson clutch which was MUCH better. I chose Rutgerson as at the time it was the only clutch which you could fit on an endless reefing line.
