Best IALA bouy and light to mark a horse aground ?

Surely a horse at sea - or anywhere else for that matter - should be displaying lights and shapes for a vessel not under command...?

And having walked among the Gormley statues in Liverpool I can only say that they should be marked as hazards or brought to the high water mark. They may be art but also pose a risk to those on the sea.

Once someone puts a hole in their nice smart sailing dinghy on an unmarked submerged load of "scrap" I expect that the harbour authorities may have questions to ask.

At Ostend just about half a mile from the harbour, the Belgians had a fantastic set of steel silhouettes of cyclists in a line. These were arranged so that they were pedaling out of the sea & more were exposed as the tide went out. There was at least a dozen life sized ones.
They were there for while then suddenly disappeared
The answer was that they were stolen!! somehow I suspect that the authorities realised the danger to swimmers on the beach, along with wind surfers & paddle boarders etc & decided to remove them.
I would not be surprised if the same happens at Wells if the "monument" is not suitably marked. As nice as it may look

When we were last at wells it was near the fisherman’s anchor and fire basket, so more to bump into than just a horse7067BB8A-4471-451B-B652-C0FA669560EF.jpg

Noting that even the harbour master admits that he "hit the target" some warning lights are obviously necessary.

If I may add a rider.....then the horse will no longer be "not in command" and a single all round white anchor light displayed in the fore part should suffice.

That said, the location obviously qualifies for denomination as a "horse sand" (vide River Deben and others) and IALA shapes and lights would hopefully save others from hitting the target.

Sorry to saddle readers with all this but I wouldn't wish them to be taken for a ride.

Pay £15k for a piece of art and then how much for cardinal marks or two double balls plus their upkeep, plus the cost of labour for laying them......
Someone is going to be sticking anti corrosive chemicals all over the thing.......or else what is the point?
Smells like bull.... I mean horse..... to me.
