What construction is the hull and what wood is the planking? for repairs rescorsinol or epoxy i hope you are not thinking of coating the whole boat! marine ply for a deck is fine especially if sheathed in glass cloth and epoxy.

First of all best of luck with you project. My thoughts about gluing your timbers is that you will use several different types of glues depending on the particular job you are doing.
Epoxy is the modern marvel that covers many applications but is best used where you know the wood to be bonded is very dry, you can add coloidal silica to thicken it if required.
If you are joining two timbers and there are moderate uneven bits then a foaming polyurathene glue is very good. This will set quickly and is easy to use.
Why are you replacing the pitch pine? It is normally extreamly long-lasting and its a shame to rip it out if its ok.
Anyway, whatever you decide good luck.

thanks for your reply Keith, I wont remove the pine unless I have to .it used to have a kind of treadmaster lino type covering on iy and it has opened quite a lot. I would recover with the lino type thing or ply has been suggested .I also now have to think about caulking with cotton or using something more modern?
