Jema, this is a bit delicate but... If you qualify, try Saga. They were by far the cheapest when I changed to them a couple of years ago.

I can't remember exactly what the quote was for my 20-year-old 33 footer. I will try to rember to look it out and PM you if you are interested

Look at this first...

Try the online quote system at CraftInsure first - you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

When the big 50 finally arrives, if you're tempted to look at Saga insurance, be careful to read the Saga policy clauses very carefully, I found it was a very poor offering.

I looked into the Saga James, and it's very good for what it is. But if you want to single-hand at night in the channel, it ain't for you! (or more precisely, me)

I have used K C Powell & Partners - always been very reasonable, Tel 01702 470035 - but never had to make a claim yet. Run by Yachtsmen. My Moody 33 on a swinging mooring on the R Deben is £250 (approx). could stay afloat longer - excess rises if I do.

When I last checked with them...

When I last checked out a quote with GJW, they would only cover singlehanded use after sunset if I had a radar fitted, and even then only with a £500 excess. CraftInsure were cheaper too, and also do monthly premiums.

I agree with Bambola. Changed from Saga to Yachtmaster Insurance two seasons ago as former were not only more expensive but put very ambiguous wording into policy and then could not give me a straight answer as to what it meant. Just renewed with Yachtmaster as still very good value compared to many others. Also agree that Max knows his boats. Cost approx £385 for 32ft for 6/7 months on pontoon - 5/6 months ashore

Hope this helps.

Am also with Craftinsure.Very simple policy document and cheap compared to others.Have been with them for 2 years and have had to make a claim during that period.

Try DRL marine

my New Jeanneau SO35, swinging mooring, Brest to the Elbe - under 400 quid. And yes, it is insured quite well 100,000, with personal equipment etc. Thanks.

Re: When I last checked with them...

Was with GJW for around 15 years but suddenly seemed like they didn't want to know. As with motor, its just a case of shopping arround every few years. I'm sure they ALL work on inertia; not 'rewarding loyalty' as everyone seems to expect.
