Best cheapo nasty chartplotter solution

An elderly Panasonic Toughbook CF18 in a fixed mount, running Seaclear , a USB GPS puck and Visitmyharbours UK charts does the job for me.
Those old toughbooks will also contort into a tablet format and some have a resistive touchscreen. I got a vehicle mount too so it doesn't head for the bilges when she gats a lean on.

Why bother with cheap and nasty when you can get a brand new Garmin 451 for around £250?

You will almost certainly spend more on the 'cheapo' route..

I'm running memory map on my lap top with a gps puck for position
I can then also use the charts on a number of mobile devices so use my I phone too it works so well I have now stopped taking my laptop and just use the I phone with a permanently installed Ian power supply in the instrument panel

That and my charts and gps are more than enough
