Have read the thread on self build barometers with interest. As we are now doing longer sails weather forecasting and information seems more important.I would like to have 'a device' in the (semi) wheelhouse that the watch keeper can use to record temp and ( especially ) pressure. It would be nice if there was some kind of history chart showing pressure over say 24 hours.I'm looking for a cheapish eBay/liddl job with batteries.Any recommendations please?

All I want is a digital barometer ! - not a weather station !

Why is not such a thing made ?

Its way cheaper than an aneroid set up - just a plastic case - digital readout and a 24 hr bar graph ?

Auriol handheld weather station model Z29592 from Lidl about 3 years ago. Does everything you asked for but pressure trend only over last 12 hours. Also lots of stopwatch, timer, alarm, world time functions etc. Don't know if currently available anywhere but manual can be found via Google. Can't remeber what I paid, probably not much more than a tenner.

Google SUNROAD, they do little barometers that show trends and have several other, superfluous, features
- like temperature, mostly yours if you hang it around your neck.
- time, handy if you want to know the time
- date, I don't design these things
- actual barometric pressure, can be calibrated and seems to be quite consistent
- altitude change, handy I suppose if you are skiing or climbing but totally useless on a boat.
- and a compass. Might be last resort handy.

I can tell you what NOT to get !

Largely for ornamental purposes, a few years ago I bought the £165 Plastimo brass clock & barometer on a nice bit of wood ( teak ??? ) - within 2 years both units had packed up...

Not surprisingly a wide selection of uber sensitive digital electronic devices recommended, but if all you want is simple barometric pressure and temperature you could go traditional (analog?? :D ) style.. when i got mine I went on eBay/Amazon and looked in the gardening section for outdoor weather instruments and chose based on feedback/price...
