Best bonding polyethylene (?) Gooseneck

Bought new moulded plastic gooseneck, guess it's a poly....moulding and has a moulding flashing around it for 2 halves of a mould, inlet fine at 40mm, outlet 50mm and want to use more 40mm hose on outlet. I can fit a reducing sleeve in stainless steel, what is best bonding agent to this plastic please. I have a 1/2 used tube of Tiger PU40, polyurethane adhesive. Thinking of using that.
Item looks just like the Force 4 item, bought in St Malo Chandler though.
I suppose I should also ask, is there a good reason for 40 inlet and 50 outlet? At moment 40mm hose all the way to the hull skin fitting.

In my experience its almost impossible to glue polyethylene. This is normally welded with a special hot air gun.

I have recently welded some polyethylene walk on mooring floats that even sikaflex will not glue very well.

It is often abbreviated to LDPE (low density polyethylene) or HDPE (high density polyethylene). Bonding polyethylene is considered very difficult and as a result it is often used as packaging for adhesive materials – as the glue won't stick to it

Id doubt if it is polythene ( which as Roger says is almost impossible to glue.) A polyurethane adhesive such as PU40 would probably be a good choice for gluing a hard plastic

The Force4 swan/goose necks have tapered inlets to fit 40, 45 or 50mm size hoses and a 50 mm outlet to fit a standard 50mm transom fitting.

The more expensive Vetus swan necks have the same size inlets and outlets ......... you choose which you want . 40, 45 or 50mm . Buy the 40mm Vetus one and yu wont have to bodge things to make a cheap Force 4 one fit


EDIT On reflection I think they may well be PE but even if they are polypropylene it is also next to impossible to glue

If you have room after the outlet fit a short piece of 50mm hose then a Vetus reducer from 50mm to 40mm then hose tot he outlet. No gluing required, just clamps.
 
I don't know for sure but would have thought it might be ABS. I would use a short length of 50 mm hose and a reducer to 40 mm.

Edit: sorry Tranona, didn't see your post that says the same.

Only thing that sticks to PE is barnacles unfortunately, try find a block of it and get a man with a lathe to make the adapter out the same material, then have it welded on, draw weld would do which doesn’t involve a fancy welder, that’s the best way but any adapter and a couple of bits of hose would work
