Ok, the time has come to rename my moody, I want to do this before my first launch, which will hopefull not be too far away.

I have a few ideas but they maybe frowned upon. As it is a moody I am thinking a long the lines of Moody Beach or Moody Winch.

Too offensive? :)

Boat names are incredibly personal, but the acid test for me is to insert it into this sentence:

Holyhead Coastguard, Holyhead Coastguard, Holyhead Coastguard this is xxxx, xxxx, xxxx, over.

If you then imagine everyone in range pissing themselves laughing, you've chosen the wrong name.

First boat I sailed on was called Donald Duck. I did have to use the radio a few times and it failed this test!

I don't understand why those might be offensive, but then I'm a simple soul... And don't have any expectation of owning a boat, even a messy one, so offer the name I came up with: "Squall Lore".

A bit like when we heard someone calling 'Solent Coastguard, Solent Coastguard, this is Don't Panic, over'

forcing the coastguard to respond... yep, you've got it.

Difficult to come up with a unique name beginning "Moody ????????"

so I proffer Ye Olde English names for Moody:

English Modig - which means brave, impetuous, or bold.

Occasionally, the surname Moody is derived from the female personal name Melodia

Nice talking point when rafted up over a glass or several!!!!

(ex Moody 346 owner)

Amusing (very) though this is, isn't it a bit like saddling your child with a nickname to do with a questionable character trait or a superficial likeness? Or a bit like someone buying a personalised licence plate BMW 123/ JAG 123/ XJS 123/ XXX 911?

Rather than identifying it by its manufacturer, how about instead giving the boat a character that means something to you or a loved one?

XXX 911 is a terrific number plate.
